Molly & Jay | Squirrel Hill + Mellon Park Engagement
Coffee shop engagement sessions are out-- tiki bars are in! When Molly & Jay envisioned their engagement pictures, a brand new hangout on Shady Ave caught their eye: Hidden Harbor in Squirrel Hill, a tiki bar with (and I can personally attest to this) the best darn Josies in town. There's nothing like a tropical drink in the middle of February to make you feel all warm and tingly inside.
Of course, anywhere I went with Molly & Jay was going to feel like that. These two light up the whole room when they're in it. And while being in front of the camera can sometimes feel awkward, it was effortless for these two. Because when they looked at each other, they simply forgot I was there.
After the tiki bar, we moseyed on down to Mellon Park, for what turned out to be an absolutely stunning afternoon. Originally Molly & Jay had wanted snow for their engagement pictures-- after all, this was the dead of winter in Pittsburgh and historically speaking that would not have been too much to ask for. But this winter we had to settle for more glorious sunsets and warm afternoons than snow storms. Such a shame! We made it work.
And the locket you'll see in some of these pictures? A gift for Molly from Jay, who takes the time to write new notes and stick them in there to surprise her with. I know-- mixed with those aforementioned Josies it was almost too much sweetness for one day ;)
While Molly's work keeps her in North Carolina, and Jay's sent him to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh is where these two fell in love. So that's where they are celebrating their engagement, and where they're getting married in June at the Twentieth Century Club! I'm so honored to document their love story, and if this is what these two look like engaged, I can't WAIT to be there for Mr. & Mrs. Lots of love to you both.
